Punjab: Farmer leader Davinder Singh Saran killed by son over land dispute in Bathinda

PTC Web Desk: In a shocking incident from Punjab’s Bathinda district, well-known farmer leader Davinder Singh Saran was allegedly beaten to death by his own son and two of his accomplices in a dispute reportedly over family land. 

Davinder Singh Saran had contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections from Talwandi Sabo constituency as a candidate representing farmer organisations. According to the police, tensions within the family had been escalating due to a land dispute.


On May 10, Davinder Singh was allegedly attacked by his son Amaninder Singh, accompanied by two accomplices. The group reportedly assaulted Saran with brutal force, leaving him severely injured. He was immediately admitted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Following the death, Sukhwinder Kaur, the wife of the deceased and a resident of Gurusar Jaga, recorded her statement with the police. Based on her testimony, the Talwandi Sabo police have registered a murder case against Amaninder Singh and his two aides. The police are now actively searching for the accused, who are currently on the run.
