Punjab: Farmers begin sit-in at railway tracks across Punjab, service to remain suspended

Chandigarh, January 29: Farmer Unions of Punjab on Sunday began sit in at railway tracks across Punjab affecting rail services throughout the state . After protesting at the DC offices and toll plazas of Punjab for a long time, the farmers have started rail roko andolan at 15 places in 12 districts today. 

The railways will remain suspended from 1 pm to 4 pm. Reportedly, due to this sit-in more than a dozen trains will be affected. Sarwan Singh Pandher, leader of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Mazdoor Committee, said that neither the state nor the Centre has time to address their demands. Due to which, they have no option left other than this.



Tracks that shall remained occupied by the farmers are as follows-

Devidaspura Jandiala Guru in District Amritsar

Gurdaspur Batala Railway Station

Khadoor Sahib, Patti and Tarn Taran Railway Station

Ferozepur Basti Tanka Wali Guru Harsahaye

Moga Railway Station

Muktsar Malout Railway Station

Fazilka Railway Station

District Barnala Ghunas Station

Jalandhar Cantt & Kapurthala Railway Station

Tanda Railway Station in Hoshiarpur

Samrala Railway Station of Ludhiana

Faridkot Railway Station

Amritsar-Delhi, Tarn Taran and Amritsar-JK routes affected

Amritsar New Delhi, Amritsar J&K and Tarn Taran routes will be affected after this decision of the farmers. Main trains Amritsar Shatabdi, Shan-e-Punjab, Nagpur Express, Paschim Express, Golden Temple Mail, Dadar Express and Jammu Tawi Jodhpur Express trains are going to be affected.
