Punjab: Kabaddi player shot dead in Kharar over personal enmity; suspects at large
PTC News Desk: A 31 year old kabaddi player was shot dead in Kharar' Shivjot Enclave area on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Guri. He was a gym trainer and also a Kabaddi player. The assailants are still at large.
Kharar police has registered a murder case and launched investigation into the matter. The officials have suspected long-standing enmity to be the reason behind the brutal murder.
Notably, the incident took place around 11 pm when Guri was outside a tea shop in Shivjot Enclave with some friends apparently when he was shot and also stabbed by sword multiple times. Guri’s father, Baldev Singh, said he received a call around midnight on Saturday, informing him that his son had been shot and was admitted to a hospital. He, along with other family members, rushed to Kharar.
However his father has denied any suspected enmity or any major disputes. “Small incidents happened, but we were never aware of such a serious threat,” he said.
DSP (Kharar-1) Karan Sandhu asserted that they had received information about quarrel in the area, however upon reaching the site they discovered that Guri had been shot dead.
