Punjab Police arrest three men linked to banned Sikhs for Justice for writing Pro-Khalistan graffiti on school walls
PTC Web Desk: In a major crackdown on separatist activities, the Punjab Police have arrested three persons allegedly associated with the banned terrorist organisation ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ). The suspects were caught writing pro-Khalistan slogans on the walls of schools in Bhissiana and Mannanwala villages of Bathinda district.
According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the accused were acting on the instructions of SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who is currently based in the US. The police have begun interrogating the suspects to uncover more details about their network and funding sources. However, their identities have not yet been revealed publicly.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused received foreign funding to carry out the anti-national activities. The trio was reportedly attempting to incite unrest and spread separatist propaganda through inflammatory graffiti. Swift police action led to their arrest before they could escalate their activities. The police are now probing how long the suspects have been connected with Pannun and whether they have earlier carried out similar operations in other parts of Punjab.
Earlier this year, several cases involving the display of Khalistani posters allegedly sponsored by Pannun surfaced across Punjab. So far, four FIRs have been registered against Pannun and his aides under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) and various sections of the IPC, including 153A (promoting enmity) and 505 (public mischief and threats). At least 12 persons have been arrested in connection with these incidents.
Pannun, who has been operating from abroad since the SFJ was banned in 2019, continues to incite anti-India activities through online propaganda and recruitment efforts. Several of his aides have already been detained by the Punjab Police for their involvement in these terror-linked operations.
