Punjab Police bust extortion module linked to gangster Goldy Brar, 10 operatives held
PTC News Desk: The Punjab Police on Sunday dismantled a major illegal arms and extortions syndicate linked to gangster Goldy Brar with the arrest of 10 operatives and seizure of 12 sophisticated weapons.

The arrest marks a significant development as police also foiled the planning of the gang to demand extortion from a prominent Gurgaon-based businessman. The gang had already carried out a reccee and was planning to fire at his residence.
Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, during a press briefing, said that the crackdown was launched after several months of extensive surveillance and intelligence collection. On December 12, 2025, the Ludhiana Police registered FIR No. 111 at Police Station Division No. 4 under Sections 111(1) and 111(2) of the BNS, along with Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act. The operation resulted in the arrest of eight major associates — Jatin Sam, Jaspreet Singh Jasse, Shubham Grover, Jatin Kataria, Rajesh Kannu, Manav, Vikaspal, and Naresh Sethi.
Police recovered seven illegal weapons during the raids, including two Austria-made 9mm Glock pistols, as well as magazines and live rounds. The arrested individuals were allegedly involved in armed extortion, illegal arms trafficking, and other violent crimes. Although Goldy Brar continues to reside abroad, legal action against him is ongoing.
As part of the continued crackdown, Ludhiana Police also filed FIR No. 025 in January 2026 at Police Station Salem Tabri under Section 109 of the BNS and Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act. In this case, accused individuals Jatin Mattu alias Makda and Kunal Machhi allegedly fired at a victim, who is currently undergoing treatment at DMC Hospital. Following the incident, police arrested Jatin Mattu Makda and Mukul and recovered five illegal firearms, including both foreign-made and locally manufactured weapons.
