Punjab cop stabbed to death by unknown assailants in Patiala's Nabha
PTC News Desk: In another case of deteriorating law and order in the state, a Punjab Police head constable was allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapon by unidentified assailants in Patiala's Nabha on Sunday evening.
The victim has been identified as Amandeep Singh, a head constable posted at Civil Lines in Patiala and a resident of Nabha. Kotwali Police Station in-charge Saurav Sabharwal said preliminary information indicates the attack followed a confrontation with the youths. He added that Singh’s brother is currently not in a condition to record a statement.
The incident unfolded on Sunday evening around 8 pm when Singh got into an argument with a group of youths. Following the dispute, more individuals reportedly gathered at the scene and launched a violent assault on Singh and his brother with sharp-edged weapons.
Singh suffered critical injuries in the attack and later succumbed, while his brother sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Nabha.
Police have sealed off the area and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the suspects. An investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured that efforts are being made to arrest those responsible as soon as possible.
