Punjab: Scientist beaten to death in Mohali over parking dispute, cctv captures shocking incident
PTC News Desk: In a shocking incident, a 39-year old scientist Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) was killed in Mohali over a parking dispute.
The deceased scientist identified as Dr Abhishek Swarnkar was beaten to death after having an altercation with neighbour Monty over parking in Mohali's sector 67 and the latter pushed him to the ground and punched him resulting in his death.
Originally from Jharkhand's Dhanbad, Dr Swarnkar was a distinguished scientist whose work was featured in international journals. He worked in Switzerland and had recently returned to India and joined IISER as a project scientist.
The incident has been captured in CCTV which shows Abhishek and Monty indulging in an argument which eventually turned violent resulting in altercation until their family intervenes.
The scientist's family has demanded strict action against the accused. Police said they had registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and were scanning the CCTV footage to plan further action.
