Punjab: Two Hoshiarpur youths die in Canada in separate incidents; check details
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident, a youth hailing from Sikri village near Tanda Urmur and Dasuya in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district lost his life in a drowning accident in Canada.
The deceased has been identified as Akashdeep (27). He had reportedly shifted to Canada five years ago on a study visa. Recently, he had achieved permanent residency (PR) status in Canada. In commemoration of this accomplishment, he and some of his friends went to Port Perry lake in Ontario. Unfortunately, Akashdeep drowned in the lake. His body was recovered from the lake after two days.
In another incident, another youth from Hoshiarpur, identified as Sachin Bhatia (27) died in Canada. A native of of Kothi village in Dasua, Sachin Bhatia had been residing in Canada for the past four years. The family received the news of his untimely demise due to a severe fever through a call from Canada. Sachin's father, Bishan Das, said Sachin was their only son. He had two sisters.

Sachin had left for Canada in 2019 to pursue higher studies. After a while, his sisters also moved to Canada, and all three siblings were living together.
Bishan Das said after completing his studies, Sachin started working there. Two days back, he had spoken to his son over the phone. At that time, Sachin had finished his work and was heading back home. While on his way, he mentioned experiencing a slight fever. Upon hearing this, he advised him to take medicine before reaching home. "Sachin reached home safely. After this, I spoke to my daughter and asked her to take care of Sachin. Approximately 2 hours later, my daughter called to inform me that they took Sachin to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead," said a sobbing father.
The family has appealed to the government for assistance in bringing Sachin's body back to India. Meanwhile, MP Som Parkash and Vijay Sampla from Hoshiarpur also called upon the grieving family to express their condolences and assured them of their complete support.
