Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests absconding agent in Jalandhar vehicle fitness certificates scam
Chandigarh, December 30: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested one more absconding agent, Rajesh Sahota, a resident of Balmik Mohalla, Hoshiarpur, who colluded with Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Jalandhar, Naresh Kaler in the vehicle fitness certificates scam.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has confiscated his cellphone and SIM card, which will be sent to data experts to gather more information about this scam.

A spokesperson for the Vigilance Bureau said a VB team had conducted a surprise check at the office of MVI, Jalandhar, and exposed an organised corruption for issuing and receiving fitness certificates without conducting inspections of commercial and private vehicles on a large scale in connivance with private agents.
He further added that the VB on the basis of sufficient evidence registered a case at the VB police station, Jalandhar. In this case, a total of 12 persons had already been arrested. They are Naresh Kaler, Rampal alias Radhe, Mohan Lal alias Kalu, Paramjit Singh Bedi, Surjit Singh, Harvinder Singh, Pankaj Dhingra @ Bholu, Brijpal Singh @ Ricky, Arvind Kumar @ Bindu, Varinder Singh @ Deepu, Sapna and Loveleen Singh Lavi (All private agents).
