Light to moderate rain forecast in several Punjab districts, relief from humidity expected
PTC Web Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in several districts of Punjab today, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing humid conditions.
According to the forecast, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ropar, and Mohali may witness showers at isolated locations. Light rainfall and drizzle are also expected in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala.
The IMD stated that while the rainfall will ease humidity, strong winds may accompany showers in some areas. The monsoon is expected to withdraw completely from Punjab by September 20, but before exiting, it is likely to bring moderate rainfall in central parts of the state today and tomorrow. In the past 24 hours, Pathankot recorded 32 mm of rain.
In terms of temperature, Mansa reported a maximum of 37.1°C, while Pathankot recorded a minimum of 24.8°C. The rainfall is expected to bring slight relief with a dip in temperatures, though no warning for heavy rain or storms has been issued.
The receding monsoon has also lowered the water levels in Punjab’s rivers, gradually normalising the situation.
