PTC Web Desk: Following its defeat in the Delhi elections, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government continues to reshuffle officials, with the latest move involving the transfer of three senior police officials, including an IPS officer. In a recent order, IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, who was appointed as SSP Ferozepur just two days ago, has been reassigned as AIG of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF). His previous position as SSP Ferozepur has now been handed over to PPS officer Bhupinder Singh.

Bhupinder Singh currently serves as the Zonal AIG CID and Commandant of the 3rd IRB Battalion in Ludhiana. He has now been given additional charge as SSP Ferozepur. Meanwhile, PPS officer Manjit Singh has been appointed as SP Investigation, Ferozepur. Earlier, he was serving as SP PBI in Kapurthala.

Notably, the key reason behind reappointing IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan as AIG of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) is his extensive experience within the department. Under his leadership, AGTF teams have successfully executed several high-profile operations. Notably, he played a crucial role in the extradition process of Nabha jail break mastermind Ramanjit Singh Romi from Hong Kong to India.

Additionally, Chauhan has been spearheading the extradition of multiple gangsters from foreign countries.

On February 21, the Punjab Police executed a major reshuffle, transferring 21 IPS officers, including ADGPs, IGs, and DIGs. During this restructuring, the Jalandhar City Police Commissioner and nine district SSPs were replaced.
