Ropar shocker: Lawyer mercilessly beats up 73-year-old mother, arrested
PTC News Desk: In a shocking incident, police rescued a 73-year-old woman from her own home after her daughter claimed that the victim's son and his wife were torturing her.
In video clips handed over to police by Deepshikha, the daughter of victim Asha Rani, the suspect Ankur Verma, a Ropar lawyer, his wife Sudha, and a juvenile were seen mercilessly thrashing the old woman.
The police arrested advocate Verma and filed a case against him under Sections 327, 342, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.
The victim, a Giani Zail Singh Nagar resident, was taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors discovered several bruises on her body.
Deepshikha stated that she learned her mother was being tortured by her brother and his family members, so she went to the house and gained access to CCTV cameras installed there.
