Seven schoolchildren, Innova driver killed in tragic road accident in Patiala’s Samana | Watch Video
PTC Web Desk: In a heartbreaking road accident in Punjab’s Patiala district, seven schoolchildren and Innova driver lost their lives when a tipper truck collided with their vehicle in Samana area, the police confirmed on Wednesday.
The tragic incident occurred while the Innova was transporting the schoolchildren back home. At the time of the crash, the vehicle was carrying 12 children. Three children were critically injured and have been admitted to the Samana Civil Hospital, while two others have been discharged after receiving treatment.
The authorities, including the police and district administration, promptly arrived at the scene. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the Innova mangled. Rescue teams used a JCB machine to extricate the victims from the wreckage.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he called the incident “unfortunate” and said he is closely monitoring the rescue efforts. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
