Punjab's ex-Dy CM and SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal performs 'sewar' at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib
PTC Web Desk: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal resumed his 'sewa' at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib on Friday morning, despite the recent assassination attempt against him. Visuals showed Sukhbir Singh Badal, a Z protectee, wearing a blue 'sewadar' uniform and seated at the gurdwara entrance with a spear in one hand, surrounded by security personnel.
This follows the attempt on his life at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Wednesday, which did not harm Sukhbir Singh Badal. The Akali Dal leader resumed his religious service the following day and continued at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, amid heightened security.
Sukhbir Singh Badal is currently serving religious penance, as directed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, for past mistakes made by the Shiromani Akali Dal government during its tenure from 2007 to 2017. He has been instructed to perform 'sewa' at multiple gurdwaras, including Takht Damdama Sahib and Darbar Sahib in Muktsar and Fatehgarh Sahib, as part of his atonement.
Meanwhile, Narain Singh Chaura, who attempted to shoot Sukhbir Singh Badal at the Golden Temple, has been remanded to three-day police custody. Chaura, a former head of the Akal Federation and a Pakistan-returned terrorist, had earlier been involved in militant activities and is linked to radical organisations. He was arrested immediately after the attack and is currently under investigation.
