Sidhu Moosewala's third death anniversary: Family's wait for justice prevails, fans remember legendary singer
Its been three years since Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in broad daylight on May 29, 2022. Although he left for heavenly abode far too soon, his music continues to live on and inspire the generations.
On his third anniversary, fans and loved ones gathered in his hometown in Mansa for a bhog ceremony organised by his family, remembering the legendry singer who is globally celebrated.
As the soulful Gurbani remembering the departed soul filled the air with sorrow, Moosewala's mother while cradling her newborn son whom fans affectionately address as Junior Sidhu Mossewala wept uncontrollably recounting the black day of her life.
Sidhu Moosewala's mother Charan Kaur shared an emotional post on her social media while remembering her son.
"Son, sometimes you were three days old, three months old, and sometimes three years old after you were born, and your presence in our lives increased our strength to fight against every difficulty. Today its been three years since your pens filled emotions waiting for justice. The cries of justice have not been able to sway the instrument of our patient intentions, son! Your words still demand justice, and we will continue to support you for truth and justice," the post read.

Moosewala's legecy:
Ever since his passing, Moosewala's music has drawn even more attention not jus in India but across the globe. His music echoes louder than ever. His popular songs include "So High," "295," "Bambiha Bole," and "Issa Jatt." His album PBX 1 reached the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. He performed at big music shows like the Wireless Festival in the UK. He also acted in Punjabi films like "Moosa Jatt" and "Yes I Am Student." Moosewala’s music and message still live on in the hearts of his fans. Many songs of Mossewala are released posthumously.
The day Moosewala's fate was sealed:
On May 29, 2022, Sidhu Moosewala along with his two friends was travelling in black Thar when several bike borne assailants surrounded his car and unleashed a wave of bullets, killing him on the spot in village Jawaharke near Mansa.
Moosewala's family has alleged that downsizing his security turned out to be fatal for him. They have also acused the Aam Aadmi Party led Punjab government of delaying justice in the brutal killing.
So far charges against all the 22 accused have been framed including infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi under various sections. Currently the case is holding at evidence stage where Moosewala's father is yet to record his statement as witness.
Nearly 22 months after his death, his mother gave birth to a baby boy through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) on March 17, 2024.
