Suicide or murder? Couple, two minor daughters found dead at residence in Punjab's Ferozepur
PTC Web Desk: Four members of a family — a coupe and their two minor daughters — were found dead at their residence in Ferozepur’s Harman Nagar area. The police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Mahi Sodhi, his wife Jasveer and their two daughters aged 10 and 6 years. One of the children has been identified as Manveer. All four bodies were recovered from a bedroom inside the house.
According to police sources, the incident came to light when a domestic help arrived at the house for routine cleaning but received no response despite repeated knocks. She later contacted a tenant living in the building, who advised her to call the family members. As calls went unanswered and the phone continued ringing inside the house, suspicion arose that something was wrong.
Initially, there were concerns that the family may have been affected by gas inhalation. However, when the door was forced open, the family members were found dead. A pistol was also recovered from the spot.
Neighbours described the family as cordial and well-behaved. They said the family had gone out together on Tuesday night, and there were no visible signs of distress. The incident reportedly came to public notice around 11 am on Wednesday, leaving residents shocked.
SSP Bhupinder Singh said the matter was being investigated. They were examining all angles to determine what exactly happened. At this stage, nothing can be ruled out, he added.
The police are awaiting forensic and post-mortem reports to establish the cause of death.
