'Won't forgive Kangana': Mohinder Kaur as she vows to continue fighting legal battle
PTC News Desk: A day after Kangana Ranaut apologised in a Bathinda court today over her tweet during the 2020-21 farmers’ stir, Mohinder Kaur, 82 has said that she will not forgive BJP MP and vowed to continue fighting legal battle.
She remains firm in her resolve to pursue the defamation case she has filed against Bollywood actress and BJP MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut.
Earlier on Monday, Kangana Ranaut extended apology in Bathinda Court while asserting that her remarks stemmed from a misunderstanding and she had a misunderstanding regarding Bebe Mohinder Kaur and never imagined, even in her dreams, that such a controversy would erupt.
The octogenarian resolute in fighting the legal battle said, “She (Kangana) has never met me. I will not forgive her. She is a big actress and political leader, while I am a small farmer. Yet she has made me come to the court at this age. She should realise how much her visit costs the state exchequer and the trouble caused to the public because of it. She says her remark was misinterpreted, but it’s not true.”
Mohinder Kaur was represented by her husband Labh Singh in the court as she could not attend the proceedings owing to her poor health.
Labh Singh adds, “Ladayi ta ladni pendi hai (the fight has to be fought). She (Kangana) has sought an apology in the court, but only God knows what will happen now. God has given us courage, otherwise we are nothing.”
During the 2021 farmers’ protest, Kangana had made a social media comment about 87-year-old farmer Mohinder Kaur from Bathinda, comparing her to Bilkis Bano, the grandmother who became the face of the Shaheen Bagh protest, and alleged that she was protesting for ₹100 per person. In response, Mohinder Kaur filed a defamation case against Kangana over the remark.
