Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022, Punjab Congress on Wednesday suffered a major setback as leader Darshan Lal Sharma joined the Shiromani Akali Dal in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Sukhbir Singh Badal welcomed Darshan Lal Sharma to the party. Besides, Ashwani Gaggi also joined Shiromani Akali Dal. SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra and several other party leaders were present on the occasion.

Talking to the media persons, Sukhbir Badal slammed the Congress government and said that the SAD is Punjab's party. Adding, he said that SAD had been fighting for the rights of Punjabis.

He further said that SAD has got a big boost in the Patiala district. The present Secretary of the Congress party Darshan Lal Sharma has also been the District President of the Congress who joined the. along with his team. He is welcomed and his entire team will be treated as a family, he said.

Lashing out at the Congress government, the SAD President said that every section of the state was unhappy with the Punjab government. Only six months are left and then Shiromani Akali Dal would bring a new ray in Punjab, he said.
