Punjab Election 2022: SSM nominates Gangster turned Activist Lakha Sidhana for assembly polls
Mohali, January 23: Samyukta Samaj Morcha (SSM) has announced eight more candidates for the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections 2022.

The party has fielded Chamkaur Singh from rural Bathinda, Raj Kumar Mahil Khurd from Banga, Rashpal Singh Raju from Chabewal, Khushi Ram IAS (retd) from Phagwara, Dr. Jang Bahadur Singh Rai from Garhshankar, Jaswant Singh Randhawa from Mukerian, Gora Singh from Bhadaur and Kuldeep Singh Dalla has been nominated from Jagraon.
In addition, the SSM has withdrawn the candidature of two earlier candidates - Harwinder Singh Harpalpur from Rajpura and Balraj Singh Thakur from Qadian. The SSM said in a statement that the decision was taken in the light of public suggestions.
Lakhbir Singh alias Lakha Sidhana, convicted in the 2021 Republic Day violence case, has been nominated by the political SSM of farmers' organizations for the forthcoming elections from Maur constituency in Bathinda district of Punjab.

However, Sidhana, popularly known as Lakhbir Singh, had denied allegations of inciting the protesters to march on the Red Fort. Delhi Police had registered a case against Sidhana for inciting violence, for which a reward of Rs 1 lakh was given. The case against him is under consideration.
