Punjab Government issues revised timings for opening shops

Punjab Government on Wednesday changed the timings for opening the shops in the state. Now, the new timings will be from 7 am to 3 pm from May 7 onwards. According to the order issued by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the timing for public dealing in banks will remain from 9 am to 1 pm. However, the banks are allowed to carry out their non-public dealing office work as per their requirement. Meanwhile, the district authorities have been asked to ensure that there is no overcrowding and that the social distancing is maintained as already advised. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said that with all the tax revenues dried up and only 1.5 percent of the industry currently operational, Punjab was facing a difficult financial situation, which was compounded by the absence of aid from the central government. Captain Amarinder Singh also said that despite the financial crunch, the state government was committed to preparing the society and the common man to manage and contain the coronavirus. He was also taking every possible step to upgrade and readjust the state’s healthcare system to meet the challenges of COVID-19, he said.
