Punjab: Labour unions to launch protest outside CM Bhagwant Mann's Sangrur residence

Chandigarh, September 5: Punjab labour union committee members, including Zameen Prapati Sangharsh, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, Dihati Mazdoor Sabha, Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union, Khet Mazdoor Sabha, Mazdoor Mukti Morcha and Pendu Mazdoor Union have announced to launch an indefinite protest outside CM Bhagwant Mann's Sangrur residence from September 12. Their demands included jobs for the unemployed, daily salary of Rs 700 and a ban on forgery auctions of reserved land on village public land. Also Read| ‘Bhagwant Mann claiming undue attention, toll plaza contract is ending anyway’ alleges opposition They alleged that before the Vidhan Sabha elections, the AAP had made certain promises,  but after coming to power in the state, AAP leaders failed to deliver. The leaders of the labor union said permanent employment should be arranged for the workers and a daily wage of Rs 700 should be fixed. They demanded that plots should be allotted to laborers at a low price from the panchayat land. Homeless workers shall also be given free plots. The age limit for old age and widow pension should be 55 years for women and 58 years for men. They are also demanding a special stipend for poor students.
