Punjab logs 676 fresh Covid-19 cases, positivity rate at 2.15%
Punjab Covid Update: Punjab reported 676 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate was recorded at 2.15 percent. With the newly logged infections, total infection numbers in Punjab soared up to 7,53,789.
As many as 14 Covid patients succumbed to the infection in Punjab, taking the death toll to 17,524. The active caseload of the state reached 6,616 in the last 24 hours.
In Punjab, a total of 31,373 Covid tests were conducted on the day, with 676 people testing positive for the infection. The number of patients on oxygen support is 468, while patients who are critical and on ventilator support 59.
Among the districts, SAS Nagar reported the highest number of Covid cases in Punjab, i.e 116, followed by Hoshiarpur with 72 new infections and Ludhiana, which logged 64 Covid cases in the last 24 hours.

Jalandhar (50) and Amritsar (44) were among the districts with a high positivity rate on the day.
Punjab witnessed 14 new Covid deaths, with fatalities in Barnala, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Moga, Ropar, Sangrur and SBS Nagar.
Meanwhile, 1,479 Covid patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,37,272 individuals were administered the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the day, while 1,35,441 were given the second jab in Punjab.
The number of precautionary doses given on the day is 11,756, taking total precautionary doses given in Punjab to 3,06,993.
The contamination zones in the state have been reduced to 6, spanning across two districts including Mohali and Jalandhar.
