Punjab: More than 20 schoolchildren test positive for Covid-19, no cultural programmes for I-Day
Reopening of Schools in Punjab: In view of coronavirus cases being reported from schools in Punjab, the Education Department has decided to not organize cultural programmes for schoolchildren on Independence Day 2021.
According to information, more than two dozen school children tested positive for coronavirus in Ludhiana. Thus, it has been decided that there will be no cultural programem for school children on Independence Day 2021.

As of now, verbal orders have been issued by the Patiala administration to the education department. From Wednesday onwards, the school children will not go to Patiala polo ground to participate in the rehearsal of the cultural program.

According to the official sources, the education department has issued instructions to the school heads that only fully vaccinated teachers who have been given both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine will come to school.
The order has also sought the list of teachers who have been given a dose of vaccine. A decision on whether or not they will be called to school will be made on Wednesday.
Ahead of the reopening of schools in Punjab, the State Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had directed all the Civil Surgeons to ensure coronavirus Surveillance in Schools as per SOPs recommended by the committee of experts.
He had stated that the class must be suspended and quarantined for 14 days if one coronavirus case is confirmed and the school must be suspended for 14 days if two or more Covid-19 cases are detected.
