Punjab Panchayat elections : 10% voter turnout till 10 AM in Amritsar
An estimated 10 percent of around 1.27 crore voters exercised their franchise till 10 am in the Punjab Panchayat elections today.

The polling remained peaceful in the initial two hours with no reports of violence received.According to a official, the polling is likely to pick up as the day advances.

The voting began at 8 am and will conclude at 4 PM on Sunday. A total number of 17,268 polling booths has been set up across the state.The results of the Punjab Panchayat elections will be announces in the evening.
Around 8000 candidates are contesting for the post of sarpanchas and panches in the state.
