Punjab: Powercom contractual staff burn Govt effigy, demand regular jobs

Powercom contractual employees today staged a protest and burnt effigy of the state government and the department over their long pending demands. The members of the union said if the government did not fulfill their demands, then they would intensify their protest and Punjab government shall be responsible for it. Protest march was started from the Shaheed Udham Singh Park, the effigy of the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab was blown up at the Bus Stand Chowk of Hoshiarpur and raised slogans against the government. On this occasion, while giving information, the Contractual employees said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has not fulfilled any of the promises made to the common people before the elections. The Contractual employees of the electricity department burnt the effigy of the Punjab government and expressed their resent. They said that despite repeated meetings with Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the outsourced contractual workers have not yet met with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
