Punjab reports 1,514 fresh Covid cases, positivity rate at 4.37%
Punjab Coronavirus Update: Punjab reported 1,514 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, with a positivity rate of 4.37 percent. With this, the total number of active Covid-19 cases in the poll-bound state reach 16,070.
According to the daily Covid bulletin released by the government, the total number of patients on oxygen support now stands at 802 in Punjab. Meanwhile, Covid patients who are critical and on ventilator support are 73.
25 Covid patients succumbed to the infection on the day, as per the update by the Punjab government. The Covid fatalities were witnessed in Amritsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Moga, Pathankot, Patiala, SAS Nagar and SBS Nagar.

SAS Nagar (245) reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases on the day, followed by Ludhiana (176), Jalandhar (165) and Amritsar (106).
So far, Punjab has reported a total of 7,48,991 coronavirus cases, with an active caseload of 16,070 on Thursday. The total Covid death toll in Punjab is 17,360, according to an update by the ministry.
On Thursday, a total of 9,009 precautionary doses were given to people in Punjab, taking the total number of precautionary shots given to 2,34,528.
As many as 87,131 people were administered the first Covid vaccine jab on the day, while 1,45,365 were given second dose in Punjab, as per the health update.
3,135 Covid patients were discharged from the hospital on the day. As per the update, Punjab has 11 containment zones spread across three Punjab districts.
