Punjab reports 526 Covid cases; Anmol Gagan Maan, Jai Krishan Rouri also infected

Mohali, July 30: Punjab continues to see a surge in daily Covid-19 count. The infection has also gripped the top brass of the state.  In the last 24 hours, three patients from Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Moga succumbed to coronavirus while 526 tested positive for the infection. At the same time, after Punjab Jails Minister Harjot Bains, Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Maan and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Jai Krishan Singh Rouri have also tested Covid positive. Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who came in contact with Jails and Education Minister Harjot Bains, is in isolation. The maximum number of 100 patients were found in Mohali, where the positivity rate stands at 13.48%. As many as 74 patients tested positive in Jalandhar and 58 in Ludhiana. The number of active patients in the state has now increased to 2,992. There are more than 100 active cases in eight districts of Punjab which the maximum (721) in Mohali. There are 406 active cases in Jalandhar, 341 in Ludhiana, 234 in Patiala, 216 in Bathinda, 174 in Amritsar, 162 in Hoshiarpur and 138 in Ropar. Active cases in other districts are less than 100.
