Bathinda: The head constable of Bathinda police station Vardhaman was caught red-handed taking bribe. The video of the head constable's act of taking bribe went viral. Head Constable Vinod Kumar had asked for a bribe of 5 thousand rupees. After this, the deal was settled for one thousand rupees.

The head constable has been suspended after the video went viral. SSPJ Elenchileni said that they have started a vigilance investigation by suspending that employee. Accused constable Vinod Kumar has been arrested on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh, resident of village Buladewala, district Bathinda.

The complainant had alleged in the complaint filed on the State Anti-Corruption Helpline that the said constable had taken a bribe of Rs 1000 in exchange for releasing his friend Jagir Singh resident of Naruana Road, Bathinda from the police custody of Vardhaman Police Station. He has stated in the complaint that Vinod Kumar had earlier demanded Rs 5,000 to release Jagir Singh but the deal was settled for Rs 1,000.
