Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in corruption case

In a major development, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday night arrested former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in connection with a corruption case and another FIR. The contents of another FIR filed against Saini have not been disclosed yet. According to a top official of Punjab Vigilance Bureau, Sumedh Singh Saini on his own reached the Bureau office at 8 pm. He said that he wanted to join the investigation in the corruption case against him. He was to join the investigation under orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on August 18, 2021. Ex-DGP has been claiming to be a tenant in the house following the retirement. Saini had moved the high court on Tuesday to seize the arrest. He had sought directions to the investigating officer not to arrest him for “any other additional offences” in the corruption case against him.
