Punjabi University suspends two officials in embezzlement case

Punjabi University vice-chancellor Prof Arvind has suspended two officials and terminated a contractual peon after a fact-finding committee indicting them in an embezzlement case. Those suspended by Punjabi University in the embezzlement case have been identified as senior assistant Nishu Chaudhary and superintendent Raminder Kaur while the peon has been identified as Jatinder Singh. Both Nishu and Ramnider are regular employees and they have been transferred from the university as well. It has been hit by a various number of corruption cases and bungling of funds. The Vice-chancellor Prof Arvind said that stringent action was required as the matter was serious. Adding, he said that a departmental inquiry has also been ordered against the suspended employees. It comprises registrar Varinder Kaushik, dean (research) Ashok Tiwari, and finance officer Rakesh Khurana. The matter came to light after the internal audit department and the finance wing flagged issues in five bills amounting to Rs 6 lakh. -PTC News
