Raksha Bandhan 2021: The festivals of India have something in common. Of course, there would be a zillion heartfelt answers to this observation --- colour, joy, and feeling of oneness and harmony. And when it comes to Raksha Bandhan, the festival has always been synonymous to the trend of tying rakhis to brothers and sisters.
However, this year there is addition of 'rakhis for bhabhi' too. Shop owners are witnessing a massive demand for a double set of rakhis – a single or double embellished thread for brother and a hanging thread for bhabhi.

One the other hand, this Raksha Bandhan, manufactures have also come up with unique designs. They have designed the rakhis in such a way that they perfectly match one another.
When asked, a trader said rakhis with oxidised central piece and in kundan work are much in demand. Sets with 'bhaiya' written on one and 'bhabhi' on the other are witnessing huge sale.

Avneet, a student, who is excited to meet her brother after a virtual celebration last year due to the Covid pandemic, says, "I have bought a kundan set for Rs 500. Taking rakhi goodies have become the thing of the past now. I am sure my sister-in-law will like this surprise."
Further, to go with rakhis, several gifts, including T-shirts, cushion covers and coffee mugs with 'bhaiya-bhabhi' written, are in demand. These rakhi sets and gift items are not just available in the local markets, but can also be purchased online.
Sumitra, who runs a blog and deals in online shopping, says, "Earlier, it was only special occasions that would call for gifting, but now people do not want to miss out on any occasion of exchanging gifts."
