Republic Day violence: MHA issues fresh statements defending barricading at borders

Republic Day violence: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday issued a fresh statement, on Red Fort violence that took place on Republic Day, defending barricading at Delhi borders. "Delhi Police has informed that no road has been dug up at Delhi borders in view of farmers’ protest," the MHA stated on Red Fort violence. Union Home Ministry added that the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, on Republic Day 2021, broke the barricades, in violation of permission granted for taking out the Kisan Tractor Parade on a mutually accepted route. Adding, it said that farmers moved towards Central Delhi despite being stopped at barricades. In view of it and the manner in which protesting farmers used tractors as weapons for breaking barricades and injuring policemen, the Delhi borders barricades were strengthened to prevent any possible repeat of conduct," the MHA added while issuing a statement on Republic Day violence.
