Rihanna on farmers: The farmers’ agitation for repeal of three agriculture laws has entered its 71st day today. Amidst the cold and dense fog, farmers are stranded on all the borders of Delhi. Many farmers have lost their lives so far due to farmers agitation. After which the situation at the borders has intensified and many farmers are being attacked. After many celebrities from Punjab spoke up about the farmers protest in India, now international celebrities are also showing their concern and support to farmers. Singer and pop icon Rihanna recently extended her support on the issue. She has condemned the internet shutdown aimed at crippling the movement. Today, speaking up on the issue, Rihanna tweeted, "Why aren't we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest," along with a news article about the situation. https://twitter.com/rihanna/status/1356625889602199552?s=20 In another tweet, Climate and environmental activist, Greta Thunberg also supported the farmers, she said, "We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India." https://twitter.com/GretaThunberg/status/1356694884615340037?s=20 Another international celebrity, Amanda Cerny also showed her support to the farmers. She wrote, "It’s no coincidence that the world’s oldest democracy was attacked not even a month ago, and as we speak, the most populous democracy is under assault. This is related. The internet services in Delhi border areas of Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri where the farmers are protesting were suspended on Saturday and the shutdown has been extended twice to be in force till at least 5 pm Wednesday.

Farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders. Despite 11 rounds of meeting between the protesting farmers and the Centre, no conclusion has come out so far. No date has been fixed for the next meeting. The farmers have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. -PTC News
