SAD seeks Governor's intervention in burning issues of Punjab

Chandigarh, May 9: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday submitted memorandums at the district headquarters to Deputy Commissioners to be forwarded to the Punjab Governor on the burning issues of the state. The party urged the Governor to issue suitable directions to the government to immediately take steps for resolving them.

Local district leadership led the delegations in their respective districts. In a statement issued here on Monday, senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said they had apprised the Governor about power crisis and how every section of society, including farmers, industrialists, shopkeepers, traders and domestic consumers were facing this crisis with power cuts ranging from 10 to 18 hours being imposed by power utility every day. SAD seeks Governor's intervention in burning issues of PunjabHe said the AAP government had even failed to maintain power supply and farmers were protesting for issuing a phase-wise schedule for paddy transplantation without even consulting farmers. They are fearing that the government would not be able to supply adequate power required in the paddy season. The SAD leader said the party had urged the Governor to direct the state government to immediately sort out power crisis by making suitable arrangement for supply for the paddy season as well as for other sections of society, including domestic consumers and industrialists.
