Security forces not to launch operations in J&K during the month of Ramzan

In a big development, the Union government on Wednesday announced a conditional ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir and asked the security forces not to launch operations during Ramzan. Centre asks security forces not to launch operations in J&K during the month of Ramzan, here on Wednesday.  Security forces have been directed to reserve the right to retaliate if attacked or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people, said Ministry of Home Affairs. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday told Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that her request of ceasefire during Ramazan has been accepted. Security forces not to launch operations in J&K during the month of Ramzan “The Centre has asked security forces not to launch operations in Jammu & Kashmir during the holy month of Ramzan,” PDP Youth Wing President Waheed Para said. The situation is Kashmir has deteriorated over the past many months. The Valley was shut for three days till Tuesday following the killing of eight militants in two encounters since Saturday. Seven civilians have also been killed during clashes near the encounter sites.
