Budget Session 2022: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present the Budget 2022-23 in a paperless format, just like last year. For the presentation of the much-awaited Union Budget, Sitharaman kept her look simple and elegant, wearing a crisp rusty brown saree. Her saree's rusty brown tone was a combination of two colours, brown and red, that have a deeper meaning. While brown is frequently associated with resilience, dependability, security and safety, red is associated with warmth, love and power. Instead of a briefcase or 'bahi khata,' Union Finance Minister was seen carrying a tablet kept inside a red coloured cover with a golden coloured national emblem stamped on it.

For the first time, the Union Budget 2021 was presented in a digital format to promote the Government of India's (GoI) flagship programme, Digital India. This is being interpreted as an initiative to go green while simultaneously minimising physical contact in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Finance Ministers have opted to carry the Budget documents in suitcases of various colours such as red velvet, black and tan, although carrying them in a briefcase has been a tradition since the British era. The Union Finance Minister Sitharaman was accompanied by MoS Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad and other officials from her ministry. Sitharaman called on President Ram Nath Kovind before presenting the Union Budget 2022-23. As per the latest update, Sitharaman has arrived at the Parliament and will present the Union Budget 2022 at 11 am. The parliament's Budget Session began on January 31 with President Ram Nath Kovind's address. The first phase of Parliament's Union budget session will take place from January 31 to February 11, while the second part will take place from March 14 to April 8.
