Sonali Phogat case: CBI, forensic experts reach Anjuna hotel where BJP leader was staying
Panaji (Goa), September 17: A CBI team and forensic experts arrived at the resort in north Goa on Saturday where late BJP leader Sonali Phogat stayed before her death.
This comes after the CBI took over the investigation into Sonali Phogat's death from Goa Police on September 15, 2022, and registered an FIR in the matter, followed by an order for a thorough investigation. In connection with the same, the CBI and a forensic team have arrived at the resort on Anjuna beach in North Goa.
Earlier, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that he will request that Union Home Minister Amit Shah hand over the Phogat case to the CBI. The Ministry of Home Affairs recommended a CBI probe into Sonali Phogat's death on September 12.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on Curlies Restaurant's appeal against the NGT order until September 26 and extended a temporary stay against demolition until the next date of hearing.
The Curlies restaurant was scheduled to be demolished for allegedly violating Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms, but the company's proprietors filed a petition with the Supreme Court to stop the demolition.
Sonali Phogat, an actor-turned-politician, was found dead in Goa last month. Her family immediately alleged foul play after which the Goa Police lodged a case of murder and arrested a couple of Phogat's associates.
