Aman Sehrawat Weight-loss journey: In the high-stakes world of Olympic wrestling, weight management is crucial.

Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat, who recently clinched a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, demonstrated an extraordinary example of weight management and discipline.

Ahead of his bronze medal play-off, Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat faced a significant challenge after his semifinal loss on Thursday, August 8. Weighing in at 61.5 kg—4.5 kg over the maximum allowed for the men’s 57 kg category—he had only 10 hours to shed the excess weight. With the help of Indian coaches Jagmander Singh and Virender Dahiya, Sehrawat embarked on an intense weight-cutting regimen.

Sehrawat shed 4.6 kg in just 10 hours to meet his weight class requirements before a pivotal match.

A look at at Aman Sehrawat's weight-loss journey

  • The process began with a one-and-a-half-hour wrestling session on the mat, followed by a hot bath to promote sweating and weight loss.
  • At 12:30 a.m., Sehrawat continued his efforts with a rigorous one-hour treadmill run.
  • Despite the intense sweating, he was still 900 grams over the limit after a short break.
  • The coaches then had him engage in light jogging and additional running sessions.
  • By 4:30 a.m., their efforts bore fruit as he weighed in at 56.9 kg, just under the 57 kg limit.
