Domination continues: Virat, Sachin extend congratulations after India's U19 glory against England

PTC News Desk: India won its record sixth Under-19 World Cup title on Friday and received high praise from the cricket world. Star batter Virat Kohli and senior men’s team head coach Gautam Gambhir appreciated the team’s strong performance in the tournament held in Harare.


The victory was sealed with an outstanding performance by 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored a brilliant 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final. India defeated England by 100 runs after putting up a huge total of 411 runs for nine wickets.

Kohli, who captained India to the U-19 title in 2008, congratulated the team and praised India’s continued success in youth cricket.

"Congratulations to the U-19 Indian team for lifting the World Cup once again. Our domination in the age group cricket and beyond continues. Well done to the whole squad and the support staff," Kohli posted on X.

India head coach Gambhir echoed similar sentiments.

"Proud of you boys! The bright future is here! #IndiaU19," Gambhir wrote.

Former spinner R Ashwin said the win showed the fearless style of modern white-ball cricket, while ex-spinner Harbhajan Singh called it a dominating performance.

"A flawless campaign powered by talent, fearlessness and audacity. The white ball game keeps on moving rapidly and this batch of under - 19's have shown us how much more they are willing to push with bat.

India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav also praised Sooryavanshi’s amazing innings, which included a record 15 sixes and 15 fours.

"Absolutely incredible @vaibhavsoorya09 What a special mentality you have, to do this in a final CLASS Knock" Suryakumar wrote.
