IND vs ENG 5th Test: Siraj leads India to thrilling win at The Oval, series drawn 2-2 after England collapse

PTC Web Desk: In a dramatic turn of events at The Oval, India sealed a sensational six-run victory over England, levelling the five-match Test series 2-2. The final day began with England seemingly in control—requiring only 35 runs with four wickets in hand—but a fiery spell from Mohammed Siraj flipped the script within an hour.

Siraj, who emerged as India's match-winner, dismantled the English lower order by removing Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton in quick succession. The climax came when he clean-bowled Gus Atkinson with a superb yorker, sealing the victory in style. Atkinson had briefly reignited English hopes by smashing a six off Siraj, but the Indian pacer’s relentless attack was too much to handle.

In a valiant effort, Chris Woakes, nursing a broken shoulder and wearing a sling, bravely walked out to bat when England needed 17 runs. Atkinson tried to shield Woakes from the strike, but Siraj's unplayable deliveries left no room for survival.

England, who were bowled out for 367, crumbled under pressure as Siraj finished with outstanding figures of 5/104 in 30.1 overs and a match haul of 9 wickets. His relentless aggression and control ensured England’s hopes were dashed despite their promising start to the morning.

Krishna provided crucial support from the other end, maintaining pressure and allowing Siraj to attack freely. Their combined efforts gave India the edge in what was a high-pressure decider, turning the tables dramatically.

Reflecting on the win, Siraj said, "I always believe I can win a match from any situation, and this morning I did just that."

The win brings an intense and fiercely contested series to a fitting conclusion, with both teams sharing the honours at 2-2.
