IPL 2023: Kohli, Gambhir get into verbal fight after RCB beat LSG

IPL 2023: During the IPL 2023 game between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday, tensions rose as RCB star batter Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had a heated exchange.

Kohli appeared animated throughout the match whenever an LSG batter was getting dismissed during the chase. In a previous IPL 2023 game between the two teams, Gambhir had gestured towards the Bengaluru crowd with a 'shut up' sign, and it is unknown whether Kohli was reacting to that.

After the game, the two shook hands, and things appeared to be normal until LSG opener Kyle Mayers approached Kohli and started saying something to him. Gambhir intervened and took Mayers away. A while later, Gambhir was seen being quite animated and saying something to Kohli, who remained calm. Other players and support staff separated the two, and Kohli had a lengthy chat with LSG captain Rahul.

RCB defeated LSG by 18 runs, with the hosts being all out for 108 in 19.5 overs while chasing RCB's total of 126 for nine. LSG's Naveen-ul-Haq was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 30 runs in four overs.

Ravi Bishnoi finished with figures of 2/21, while Amit Mishra and Krunal Pandya picked up two and zero wickets, respectively. RCB's skipper Faf du Plessis scored 44 off 40 balls after winning the toss and opting to bat first, while Kohli made 31 off 30 deliveries at the top of the order.
