'Completely changed me': KL Rahul breaks silence on 'Koffee with Karan' controversy
PTC News Desk: Indian cricketer KL Rahul finally spoke up about the major controversy after appearing on the renowned TV show "Koffee With Karan" with teammate Hardik Pandya in 2019.
Their comments on the show sparked much criticism, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) even decided to suspend them.
The episode aired while Rahul and Hardik were in Australia as part of the Indian cricket team, but they were forced to return midway due to controversy.
Rahul discussed the incident on a podcast with Nikhil Kamath on his YouTube channel, which also featured Kriti Sanon and Badshah, and stated that it had scarred him. He also stated that it completely changed him as a person.
"I used to be good at trolling. I used to believe I didn't care. I was much younger then. Several years ago, I was exposed to a lot of trolling. If I sat, I got trolled; if I stood, I got trolled," he explained.
"The interview was like a separate world. That changed me. It completely changed me. I was a pretty soft-spoken person growing up. Then I played for India and felt quite confident. People will know I've been in a room with 100 people."
"Now I don't, since that interview scared me immensely. Getting suspended from the team. I've never been suspended in school. I was not sure how to handle it. I did mischief in school, but nothing that got me expelled or my parents to come," he said.
KL Rahul is currently preparing for the Duldeep Trophy 2024, and he hopes to return to the Indian cricket team's Test squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.
There has also been much speculation about whether he will be retained by the Lucknow Super Giants for the following season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but nothing has been verified as of yet.
