Punjab’s Gatka team wins big in Khelo India Youth Games; lifts 4 gold, 2 silver & 3 bronze

Gatka team wins big: Punjab’s Gatka team wins big in Khelo India Youth Games held in Tamil Nadu - Madurai, under the leadership of Punjab Gatka Association and 13 players of team Punjab  created a record by winning nine medals - 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. 

Punjab’s Gatka team unwavering commitment and enthusiasm have established a fresh standard for excellence in sports and Punjab team secured the overall first position among boys and girls. 

Congratulating all the team members, winning players, office bearers and sports staff, Gatka Federation of India President Harcharan Singh Bhullar IPS and Executive President Dr Rajinder Singh Sohal said, “This is great achievement.”

Meanwhile, General Secretary of Punjab Gatka Association and Gatka Federation of India and Gatka Competition Manager at Khelo India Games, Baljinder Singh Toor said, “26 competitions including Gatka are being organised in these Youth Games held in various cities of Tamil Nadu from January 19 to January 31, Gatka sports competitions were held at the district campus of SDAT, Madurai from 21 to 23 January.” 

Participants from 19 states including 80 boys and 80 girls participated in it and Punjab achieved big milestone in Khelo India Youth Games. 

Punjab’s Gatka team also achieved victory in Assam, Goa and Madhya Pradesh. Punjab Gatka Association (Regd) is recognised by Punjab State Sports Council and Punjab Olympic Association and the federation is working day and night to take Gatka to greater heights

Notably, Khelo India is a significant sports program in India."Khelo India" translates to "Play India" and is a national program launched by the Government of India to promote sports and fitness among youth.

Punjab Gatka team is currently dominating the Khelo India Youth Games with their splendid and remarkable achievement and stands as an inspirational tale for budding sports star.
