World Cup 2023: Australian Deputy PM to attend India vs Australia final clash in Ahmedabad

New Delhi, November 18: Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles is slated to attend the Cricket World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19, as confirmed by the Ministry of Defence.

Ahead of the much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 final, Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a high-level meeting to oversee security, cleanliness, and traffic management preparations.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to join Australian Deputy PM Richard Marles in watching the ICC Cricket World Cup final match at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.


India secured their spot in the finals with a commanding 70-run victory over New Zealand, while Australia faced a challenging chase against South Africa, ultimately clinching a nerve-wracking three-wicket win.

During his visit to India, Richard Marles is scheduled to co-chair the 2nd India-Australia 2 2 Ministerial Dialogue with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, focusing on bilateral defense cooperation on November 20.

The 2 2 dialogue will involve discussions among Rajnath Singh, S Jaishankar, Richard Marles, and Penny Wong, covering diverse areas of mutual interest. This dialogue aims to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Australia.

The Ministry of Defence emphasised that Minister Marles' visit is expected to further enhance collaboration and bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries.


Additionally, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled a lineup of celebrities set to perform before and during the ODI World Cup final. The Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran acrobatic team is scheduled to showcase an air show before the match, followed by performances by artists such as Aditya Gadhvi, Pritam, Jonita Gandhi, Nakash Aziz, Amit Mishra, Akasa Singh, and Tushar Joshi during breaks in the game.
