World Cup 2023: Team India's bold orange training kit for 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup sparks social media buzz; Swiggy reacts

PTC Web Desk: In preparation for their upcoming match against Australia at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8, Team India recently introduced their new training kit (orange jerseys) for the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup.

The unveiling of this kit drew considerable attention online due to its striking orange colour, and fans were quick to notice the resemblance between the jerseys and the t-shirts worn by Swiggy delivery executives. Swiggy even joined in on the social media buzz by humorously stating that the "boys are ready to deliver the World Cup."

A social media user named Mufaddal Vohra posted a picture of former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli sporting the new jersey with the caption, "Virat Kohli in India's World Cup training jersey."

Swiggy responded with a witty remark, "looks like the boys in the orange jersey are ready to deliver the World Cup." This cheeky exchange between Swiggy and the internet user generated numerous reactions from social media users.

Some users praised Swiggy's marketing prowess, saying, "They never miss an opportunity for marketing." Others humorously requested, "Please ensure the delivery for the next 45 days." Some even playfully commented on the similarity between the players and Swiggy delivery boys, saying, "They really look like delivery boys."

The new orange training kit marked a departure from the traditional blue attire typically associated with the Indian cricket team. This change sparked a variety of reactions, with some users jokingly suggesting that Swiggy delivery boys were attending a job interview at Zomato. One person quipped, "Is this Team India or the @Swiggy delivery boys? I had to do a double take to confirm they're Indian cricket players."

This is the first time the Indian cricket team has introduced an orange training kit. In 2019, when India played against England, they wore saffron-coloured t-shirts and navy blue trousers as part of the International Cricket Council's requirement for teams to have home and away uniforms. The ICC stated that "for televised ICC events, all participating teams must have two different coloured kits, except for the host country, which has the preference in choosing colours and may opt for a single coloured kit for all matches during the event. The teams are informed in advance about which coloured kit to wear for each match."
