WWE star Bray Wyatt passes away at 36 due to heart attack

PTC News Desk: Windham Rotunda, known by his ring names Bray Wyatt and The Fiend in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), tragically passed away on Thursday. The announcement was made by Paul "Triple H" Levesque, the Chief Content Officer of WWE, through social media. Wyatt, a third-generation wrestler with deep roots in the wrestling world, was just 36 years old.

As reported by TMZ, the cause of Wyatt's death was a heart attack.

In a recent post on X (previously Twitter), Paul Levesque shared, "Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life, Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time."

ESPN reports that Windham Rotunda, wrestling under the name Bray Wyatt, had been inactive in WWE for the past several months due to undisclosed health issues. A wrestler with WWE since 2009, Wyatt had a temporary hiatus in 2021 and 2022 when he was surprisingly released, only to return with significant fanfare in September of the latter year. His comeback was accompanied by a cryptic storyline and vignettes that boosted television ratings.

Wyatt's wrestling achievements included being a three-time world champion in WWE, securing the WWE Championship once and the Universal Championship twice. After a brief break from August 2018 to April 2019, he reemerged with a new persona, The Fiend.

Hailing from a lineage of wrestlers, Bray Wyatt's father was the WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda. The family's wrestling legacy extended further, with his grandfather, Blackjack Mulligan, leaving a notable mark in professional wrestling. Continuing this tradition, Wyatt's uncles, Barry and Kendall Windham, also pursued careers in the wrestling realm.

The wrestling community mourns the loss of a talented and iconic figure, reflecting on his contributions to the sport and his lasting impact on its history.
