Sri Lankan Navy arrests 18 Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan Waters
The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested eighteen Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan’s waters on Friday. The Navy arrested them in the seas 16 nautical miles west of Point Pedro during a naval patrol.

According to media reports, the fishermen were arrested from Tamil Nadu for violating the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and illegally fishing in International waters. The Navy also seized three dhows used by them. They have been brought to SLNS Uttara in Jaffna and were taken for the medical test.

The media further said, after conducting the medical test, the fishermen would be handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Jaffna for further investigation.
