Supreme Court denies bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav in fodder scam cases
The Supreme Court denied bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in fodder Scam cases on Wednesday. He is currently serving jail time.

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s lawyer, Kapil Sibal said that he was given a 14-year sentence and not 25 years. Also, he is not running away. To which Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, replied, “Whether it is 25 years or 14, the High Court will decide. We can ask the High Court to expedite the cases against politicians." The court also said that Lalu Prasad Yadav has only served only 14 months against 25-year conviction.

Kapil Sibal asked the court, what could be the danger if he was released on bail, to which it replied, "There is no danger, except you are convicted. We don't think we can grant bail dismissed."
On Tuesday, Central Bureau of Investigation said that Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief must not be allowed any reprieve to pursue his political activities. Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in 2017 in yet another fodder scam case. He had been at a hospital in Ranchi for much of his sentence so far.

He was held guilty in a multi-million-rupee scam involving the embezzlement of government funds meant for cattle fodder in the 1990s when he was the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar.
