CBI registers FIR in nursing officer recruitment test irregularities, Haryana candidate and Punjab exam centre under scrutiny

New Delhi, June 14: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) against a candidate from Haryana and an examination center in Punjab regarding alleged irregularities in the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) on June 3.

Dr Naval K Vikram, Associate Dean (Exams), Exam Section, AIIMS, New Delhi, filed a complaint that prompted the CBI to initiate the case.

The complaint accuses the candidate, Ritu, and the Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology in Punjab of using unfair means, specifically through the computer system, to cheat in the NORCET-4 recruitment examination. The exam's question paper photos and screenshots circulated on social media despite strict regulations prohibiting cameras or cell phones in the exam centers.

The NORCET-4 exam was conducted for all AIIMS, including AIIMS, New Delhi, as well as four Central Government Hospitals in Delhi and NITRD across the country.

The complaint further states that on June 5, several tweets claiming the leakage of the question paper of NORCET-4 came to the complainant's attention. The exam was held on June 3 in the morning shift.

The CBI has registered a case against the accused under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act.
