Tarn Taran police arrest Amritpal Singh’s gunman Varinder Johal
PTC News Desk: Tarn Taran police on Monday arrest ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh’s personal gunman Varinder Singh Johal. According to sources, Johal is also alleged to have been a trainer for the Anandpur Khalsa Force (AKF), a militant outfit operating in Punjab. NSA is also imposed on him and he has been sent to Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail.
Earlier, Varinder Singh Johal was arrested by Tarn Taran police, for allegedly promoting and glorifying gun-culture. According to police sources, there was a video that went viral, where he was seen firing from a pump action gun.

As per to the sources, Tarn Taran Police took Johal into custody and now is facing charges under National Security Act (NSA). On Monday he has been sent to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. Johal’s links with the AKF are a matter of concern for law enforcement agencies as the group has been involved in several violent incidents in the past. The AKF is believed to be responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in Punjab, targeting government installations and security forces.
The Tarn Taran Police since eight days conducted intensive operations to disrupt the activities that was carried out by the extremist groups in the area. It is a major success for the police department to arrest Johal.
